Boiled eggs, Stir-fried mushrooms, Steamed veggies, Brown bread slice toasted and lightly buttered and a slice of raw tomatoes
Air-fried sardines
Sardine fish pan-fried in sesame oil, steamed veggies, stir-fried mushrooms and steamed garlic cloves
Rather than boiling veggies, they are steamed here to keep their natural goodness intact. Also, mushrooms are stir-fried lightly in soy sauce so that they enhance the taste of this platter.
I have introduced garlic into this, because of its invaluable health benefits as a cholesterol buster and a purifier of the whole system of internal organs.
Vegetables suitable for Steaming:
Carrots
Beetroots
Broccoli and Cauliflower
Green Beans
Mushrooms
Garlic cloves
Cabbage
Prepare the veggies
- Cut the vegetables into any shape you prefer
- Do not peel the garlic cloves. Steam them with the husk to retain the goodness of them
- Broccoli, Cauliflower, Green beans, Carrots, Peas, Okra, Cabbage or any other of your favourite vegetable must be cut into bite-size pieces
- Place all the veggies and garlic cloves in the steamer and steam until the veggies are soft and their original colours are intact. This might take about 10mins
- Heat a wide pan and drop a tiny blob of butter and let it melt
- Toss the veggies in butter, season them with salt and pepper
- Done!
Prepare the mushrooms
- Slice up the mushrooms into chunks
- Heat up a little bit of olive oil in a wok
- Toss the mushrooms until they are soft
- Sprinkle some soy sauce and stir fry a little more
- The mushrooms are done!
Prepare the fish
1) You can choose mackerel, sardines or trout fish for this. All are healthy, oily fish.
2) Remove all the small bones except the spinal bone
3) Heat a pan and add a little bit of sesame oil
4) Place the fish once the oil is hot
5) Let one side fries properly before turning. If you try to turn early, the fish can break into several places
6) Flip over and fry both sides properly
7) Toss a couple of green chillies
8) Pour a little soy sauce on top
9) Fry both sides in quick turns
Done!
Serve:
- Now arrange all veggies, eggs, fish or chicken and mushrooms on a wide plate
- Serve immediately!
